Immunohistochemical and Molecular Features of Gastric Hyperplastic Polyps

چکیده
Design: 15 large hyperplastic polyps (>1 cm), including 4 with dysplastic foci, 10 small hyperplastic polyps (≤1 cm), and 9 gastric adenomas were evaluated for immunohistochemical expression of MGMT, MLH-1, β-catenin, p27, p16, and p53. Polyps with dysplasia or abnormal β-catenin expression were assessed for APC and β-catenin (CTNNB1) mutations. Large hyperplastic polyps and adenomas were analyzed for KRAS and BRAF mutations.

The Clinicopathological Features of Gastric Hyperplastic Polyps with Neoplastic Transformations: A Suggestion of Indication for Endoscopic Polypectomy
BACKGROUND/AIMS Although gastric hyperplastic polyps are usually considered as benign lesions, a low risk of carcinomatous conversion is currently recognized. We aimed to identify the characteristics of hyperplastic polyps undergoing neoplastic transformation. METHODS A total of 269 gastric hyperplastic polyps from 216 patients removed by endoscopic polypectomy (EP) or surgical resection were...
متن کاملInverted hyperplastic polyposis of the colon.
AIMS To describe and evaluate two apparently unique cases of inverted hyperplastic (metaplastic) polyposis of the colon. METHODS The cases were analysed by standard histopathological, histochemical, and immunohistochemical techniques and the findings compared with those of regular hyperplastic polyps of the colorectum. RESULTS Both patients were middle-aged men with concurrent adenocarcinom...

AbstractIntroduction: Hyperplastic polyps of the esophago-gastric junction are seen during endoscopic evaluation of upper gastrointestinal tract. They are usually asymptomatic and discovered accidentally during endoscopic evaluation for other problems. These protrusions are mucosal regenerative response to surrounding mucosal injury. Case: Here we present a 9-year-old boy presenting with abdomi...
متن کاملThe relationship between mucin phenotype and clinicopathological factors, proliferative activity and p53 expression in gastric hyperplastic polyps.
AIMS Gastric hyperplastic polyps (GHPs) are the most common polypoid lesion of the stomach, and their malignant potential has been demonstrated. In the present study, we evaluated the mucin phenotypes of GHPs and investigated the relationships among mucin phenotypes and clinical-pathological factors, proliferative activity and p53 expression in GHPs. METHODS The CD10, MUC2, MUC5AC and MUC6 ex...
متن کاملMalignant transformation of hyperplastic gastric polyps: An immunohistochemical and pathological study of the changes of neoplastic phenotype
In spite of the evidence that the malignant transformation of gastric hyperplastic polyps (HPs) is a rare event, it must always be taken into account during diagnosis. The aim of the current study was to clarify the mechanism of the malignant transformation of gastric hyperplasia polyps, with focus on phenotypic expression, cell proliferation and p53 overexpression. Immunohistochemistry for muc...
